Newspaper Obituary - June 1890 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Died in Mason City, Iowa, June 19, 1890, Mrs. Estelle R. Virgil, oldest daughter of J. W. Calkins. Her husband Laseur L. Virgil died before her. She leaves five children to mourn for her loss.
Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, June 26, 1890 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Daysville - The funeral services of Mrs. Estelle Virgil were held from her father's, J. W Calkins, residence last Thursday afternoon, a large circle of immediate relatives being present to offer their last mourning tribute to the dead. Mrs. Virgil was a graduate of Oberlin college and also of Mexico academy. After the death of her husband, Laseur Virgil, she removed with her children to Oberlin, Ohio. About two years ago she had an attack of measles with terminated in consumption. During her last illness she has been with her sister, Mrs. Jeanne Smith, in Mason City, Iowa, her children returning to their grandfather's here. Mrs. Virgil leaves five children to mourn her early death, together with an unusually large circle of friends. Relatives from a distance were present, among them Mrs. G. P. Smith, of Iowa, Mrs. Gertrude Severence and Mrs. Flora Tenney.
