Walter D. Hoff, 59, of Deerfield Apartments, retired truck driver, died Monday at the Veterans' Administration Hospital, Syracuse, after a long illness.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Taylor-Vida Funeral Home, with the Rev. Catherine C. Salisbury, officiating. Burial will be in South Richland Cemetery, Fernwood.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 7643 Jefferson St.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret A.; six sons, David W., Norfolk, Va., Steven M., Parish, Thomas E. and Walter J., both of Fulton, Jack P., Watertown, and Pfc. Francis S., Germany; two daughters, Mrs. Brian (JoLynn) Salisbury, Hannibal, and Mrs. Robert (Darlene) Moore, Quantico, Va.; 24 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, William E., Toledo, Ohio; and two sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Joanne) Cline, and Mrs. Lee (Nancy) Sandlan, both of Toledo.
Born in Toledo Aug. 4, 1932, a son of Walter J. and Valerie Schausten Hoff, he married Margaret A. Leach July 21, 1951, in Syracuse.
Mr. Hoff served with the Army and the Air Force during the Korean War, and was employed as a truck driver for Ralston Purina, formerly of Pulaski, until retiring in the early 1970s.
He was a member and past commander of American legion Post 358, and a member of 40 & 8 Oswego County 895, a veterans organization.
