  • Notes 
    • James Parkhurst was a cooper by trade, listed also as a sawyer and a hoop maker in various census listings. He served in the 1st NY light Artillery for 9 months commencing in 1861. He was later a member of the E.L. Bentley GAR Post 265 of Albion, where he served as an officer.
      A biography of James and his family is found in the 1895 Landmarks of Oswego County, page 128 in the 3rd section. His paternal Grandfather Josiah Parkhurst came to New York from Massachusetts, settled in Oneida County where James' father lived until 1845 when they moved to Oswego County.
      James and Caroline had no children, and lived in a large farm on the Albion Cross Road.
