    • MRS. VICTORIA UPTON

      Mrs. Victoria Upton, widow of the late E.C. Upton, died at the home of her son, Clarence E. Upton, east of Lacona, July 2. Seven weeks ago Mrs. Upton suffered a severe stroke of paralysis and has since been helpless, but has been kindly cared for by the family.

      Mrs. Upton was a daughter of the late Lewis Carr of Richland. She is survived by a brother, Lewis Carr of Mexico, and one sister, Mrs. Jane Trumbull of Demster. She was married to Mr. Upton March 16, 1864 and the remainder of. her life was spent in this town. Mr. and Mrs. Upton were among our esteemed citizens. Mr. Upton served his town as highway commissioner and supervisor, and was one of the progressive and successful farmers of this town. They had a fine and commodious home which Mr. Upton erected and Mrs. Upton remained until two years ago when she made her home her son, Clarence, and kept for him until her recent illness. She is survived by five sons, respected and esteemed by all who know them. They are Clarence E. of Lacona; Charles E., Jay L., Malcom J. of Sandy Creek, and Earl L. who is manager of the F. F. Field Holstein Co., Brockton, Mass. The funeral was held from the home of Clarence Upton ence Upton Sunday afternoon, Rev. M. Hydon officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the.family plot in Woodlawn cemetery, her sons acting as bearers. The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends of the deceased
