Julia E. Britton, 87, of State Rte. 13, Williamstown, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2009, at Betsy Ross Rehabilitation Center in Rome, New York.
She was born April 6, 1921, in Williamstown, NY, a daughter of Anson and Mary Miller Oyer. On February 15, 1940, she was married to William W. Britton in Williamstown, where she was a lifetime resident. Mr. Britton passed away April 9, 1986.
Julia was of the Methodist faith and a former member of the Ricard Grange.
Surviving are three daughters, Pauline Hale, Rosalie and William Platt, all of Williamstown, D. Jean and Alfred Kinney of Westdale; six sons, Jerry and Carole Britton, Lawrence Britton, Brian and Cathy Britton, Rodney and Keitha Britton, Keith and Carol Britton, all of Williamstown, Steven and Mary Jo Britton, Camden; a daughter-in-law, Ann Britton, Williamstown; one sister, Verna Britton, Williamstown; 35 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by one son, William Britton; a grandson, John Hale; a son-in-law, James Hale; three sisters, Fran Matteson, Celia Britton, Ruth Webb; and five brothers, Norman, Ezra, Anson, Hugh and George Oyer.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday from LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY, with spring interment in Fairview Cemetery, Williamstown.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 109 Main Street. Memorial contributions may be made to the Williamstown Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Williamstown, NY 13493.
