- Mrs. Josephine Hill
Our announcement of the death of Mrs. Josephine Hill, last week, was very meager because we did not find the right person to obtain more information from. A relative has handed us the following notice which we publish for the information of Mrs. Hill's many friends about here.
Mrs. Josephine Meacham Hill, widow of the late Enos Hill, of this place, died at Ellisburg, Nov 26. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Antoinette M. Eastman, of Ellisburg, and three brothers, Milton, John and Walter Meacham, of the state of Kansas. She was of the Mayflower lineage, her father, Dea. John Meacham, being a descendent of Miles Standish, which has made the name Standish popular in the Meacham family, and her mother, Mrs. Maria (Brewster) Meacham, daughter of Elder Wm. Brewster. Mrs. Hill was a member of the Congregational Church of this village, she and was always interested in its welfare and prosperity. Being of a kind and affectionate disposition, she greatly enjoyed the society of her friends, and was ready to assist and comfort them in times of trouble and distress.
As the end of life drew near, submissive to the Divine Will, she set her house in order, and trusting to her Saviour for salvation, departed this life in the hope of a blessed immortality.
