- John H. Rastley Sr., 70, of 1 E. Lamb Road, died Friday at St. Luke's Nursing Home, Oswego, where he had been a resident since January.
He was born Dec. 16, 1928, in Macomb, son of Leo and Edna Taylor Rastley. He lived in Gouverneur, graduating from Gouverneur High School in 1947. He moved to Pulaski in 1961 and married Vivian A. Hartwick on Dec. 22, 1962.
Mr. Rastley was employed by Carrier Corp., Syracuse, for 34 years, retiring in 1990.
He also owned and operated a farm on Lamb Road for more than 20 years.
Mr. Rastley, who served in the Air Force from 1948 to 1952, was a member of Robert Edwards American Legion Post 358.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Bonnie Scheppard and Melissa Granger, both of Pulaski; a son, John H. Jr., Pulaski; a stepson, John Phillips, Altmar, whom he raised; four brothers, Leo, Redwood, Donald, Texas, and George and David, both of Gouverneur; three sisters, Viola Fuke, Brasher Falls, Eleanor Simmons, Syracuse, and Jean Howard, Utica, 12 grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home with the Rev. John M. Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
