- JOSEPH M. OTTENSCHOT
Injuries suffered Thursday afternoon when a farm tractor overturned, proved fatal to Joseph Martin Ottenschot, 52, of Parish R.D. 2, who died Sunday morning in the Oswego Hospital.
Mr. Ottenschot suffered a fractured back and internal injuries, along with a compound fracture of the left forearm and had been in a critical condition since Thursday afternoon when he was rushed to the hospital.
He had been working with a tractor on the Martin Weber farm in the Villiard District, Mexico, when the accident occurred.
Weber and several neighboring men used another tractor to free the injured man after the vehicle dropped over backward to pin him to the ground.
Dr. John Anderson of Mexico treated Mr. Ottenschot at the scene. He was taken to the hospital in the Gibbs ambulance of Mexico.
Mr. Ottenschot was born in Holland and had resided in this
country for many years. He was a contract baler and moved
his equipment to the various farms under contract for the haying season.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose of Syracuse and a communicant of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Parish where he had lived 15 years. He was a former resident of Syracuse and Homer.
Surviving besieges his wife, Mrs. Delia Grenon Ottenschot; are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ottenschot of Homer; two daughters, Mrs. JoAnn Johnson of Syracuse and Mrs. Cecelia Dayger of Parish; six grandchildren; and three brothers, George and Leonard Ottenschot of Homer and Merton Ottenschot of Rochester.
Services were Tue sday at 9:15 a.m. in the Harter Funeral Home Parish, and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ann's Catholic Church. Burial was in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery in Parish
