Wendall R. "Pete" Vrooman, 93, a resident of Pulaski, passed away Thursday at St. Luke's Nursing Home in Oswego. Wendall resided in Pulaski since 1937 and previously lived in Pitcarin, NY. He was born September 3, 1919, in Hammond, NY. He attended Pitcarin Forks School.
Wendall married Norma Ladd on July 29, 1943; she passed away February 24, 2011. He was employed by the NYS Highway Department in Mexico for 19 years, retiring in 1981. He was also employed by the town of Richland Highway Department for 12 years. Wendall also owned and operated a dairy farm for 45 years. He spent his winters in Brookville, Florida, since 1983. He was a member of the Pulaski Wesleyan Church.
Surviving: five sons, Erwin R. of Liverpool, Eugene W. of Lutz, FL, and Ronald J., Chester L. and Mark T., all of Pulaski; one daughter, JoeAnne VanBrocklin of Sandy Creek; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Wendall was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Pulaski Wesleyan Church, 4591 U.S. Route 11, Pulaski, NY 13142, with a burial at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the church, prior to the funeral.
