- Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, September 30, 1886 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Boylston - Died, September 14 of intermittent fever, Mary Shafty, daughter of supervisor Shafty. Miss Shafty was about preparing herself for a teacher is three of her sisters had done before her. She was intending to attend the high school at Sandy Creek and was taken suddenly ill on the day school began, and lived but a short time. Mr. Shafty is the father of eleven children, and the physician employed during his daughter's illness was the first one ever called to his house; a rare circumstance.
