- Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, May 20, 1891 Mexico Independent - Mexico, New York - Holmesville, May 18 - Deacon O. J. Douglas died very suddenly, Saturday afternoon. He had been in poor health for some time, and his death, though sudden, we think was not unexpected. Thus another godly man has gone to join the ranks of the redeemed. The funeral will be held at the Baptist Church, where he had long been a faithful member, Tuesday at 2 p.m.
Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, May 21, 1891 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Holmesville - O. J. Douglass, who for some time had been failing in health, passed away Saturday. He for many years had been a faithful and consistent Christian and member of the Baptist church. Ever ready to perform any duty, no matter how difficult, and was always found in his accustomed place at church, no matter how inclement the weather might be. The funeral was held at the church, Tuesday, at 2 p.m. He leaves a wife, son and daughter to mourn the loss of an affectionate husband and a loving and kind father. His son is Rev. Henry Douglas, a Baptist minister located in Vermont. His daughter is Mrs. Joseph Hutchins.
