Ellisburg Mayor Dies
ELLISBURG - Mayor Arthur L. Joslyn, 67, died Sunday at home. The funeral will be Wednesday, Rev. Hutchinson, pastor Methodist Churches, officiating. Burial will be in Ellisburg Rural Cemetery. Surviving, besides his widow, Mrs Lilly A. Shurtliff Joslyn, are two sons, A. Gordon, Billings, Mont., and James D., Lacona; a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Jean) Giddings, Ellisburg; two brothers, Raymond W. Belleville, and H. Donald, Ellisburg. Born June 10, 1904 at Sandy Creek, son of William and Sadie McNitt Joslyn, he attended Sandy Creek school and on Nov. 27, 1924, married Lilly A. Shurtliff at Westville. From 1927 to 1931, he was in the Coast Guard, stationed at Big Sandy. For nine years, he was employed on the H. E. Machold farms as manager and horse trainer. Later he attended auctioneers' school in Mason City, Iowa, and for 20 years was a local auctioneer. His last auction was Saturday at the Kellar residence. He was renominated for mayor March 1, 1965
