- Mrs. Mary Jane Durgee
Mrs. Mary Jane Durgee, aged 84 years, widow of George Durgee, died at her home here Wednesday afternoon after a very short illness. She had lived fifty years in the home where she died. After the death of her husband, which occurred eleven years ago, her son, Clayton made his home with her until he returned to Patterson, N.J. Then another son, Charles of Orwell stayed with her winters and her only daughter, Clara stayed with her summers, thus making it possible for their mother to live in her own home where she had lived so many years. She was born at Amboy, the daughter of James and Ellen Nichols Kinney. Surviving are two sons, Charles of Orwell, Clayton of Patterson, N.J.; a daughter, Mrs. Clara Beach of New York city and five grandchildren, Mrs. Don Minor and Mrs. Clarence Hager of Orwell, Marvin Durgee of Syracuse and two grandchildren in Illinois. Services werte conducted at the home at 1:30 p.m. Saturday by Rev. Charles Martin of Richland.
Burial was in Fairview cemetery Williamstown. The bearers were Don Minor, Clarence Hager, Marvin Durgee and Dwight Crossett. E.A. Field of Altmar had the funeral service.
