Dr. Albert E. Lawrence, Jr., 83, of Cape Coral, went home to the Lord on Thursday, May 20, 1999 in Cape Coral. Born August 28, 1915 in Watertown, NY, son of Rev. Albert and Inez Lawrence, Sr. Dr. Lawrence was a graduate from Syracuse University with a BA and Master's Degree and Doctorate from Cornell University. He was a retired Professor from SUNY Cortland in NY and also was a teaching consultant in Indonesia and Brazil. He was a member of Cape Coral First United Methodist Church, President of the Cape Coral First United Methodist Men, and Chairman of the International Relationships for the Kiwanis of Cape Coral.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Suka; daughter, Elizabeth (Betty) and her husband Ted Davenport of Skaneateles, NY; sister, Bella Turgeon of FL; brother, Howard (Helen) Lawrence of NC; foster daughter, Rohaeti Sutaryo of Indonesia; grandsons, Andrew (Holly) Davenport of MD, Jim (Kacey) Davenport of MA; granddaughter, Patti (Chris) Schreiber of NY; three foster grandchildren in Indonesia and three great-grandchildren: Jesse, Cody and Zachary.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 24, 1999 at 3:30 p.m. at Cape Coral First United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends Sunday from 5 - 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cape Coral First United Methodist Church, 4118 Coronado Pkwy., Cape Coral, FL 33904.
