GEORGE N. SHAFTY DIES AT CHAMPION
WELL KNOWN FARMER HAD JUST REACHED THREE SCORE AND TEN.
Carthage, Oct. 22--The death of George Nicholas Shafty occurred at his home at Champion about 9 last night. Mr. Shaufty was 70 years of age. He was born in Watertown, but had lived on a farm at Champion since childhood.
Mr. Shaufty was the son of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth Shaufty. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Elisabeth E. Shaufty, and nine children; Izora Shaufty, Champion; Nellie M. DeLong, Lacona; Clara J. Lowry, Sackets Harbor; Bertha M. Hastings, Carthage; George N. Jr., Champion, Jessie Alice, Lacona; Elisabeth E. White, Pulaski, Nicholas J., Denmark; Edith Nemier and Gertrude Nemeir, Lacona. The funeral will be held from the late home Tuesday at 2. Rev. R. B. Perrine, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, officiating. Interment will be made in the cemetery at Great Bend.
