- Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, March 19, 1902 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Charles U. Bean was born in Concord, New Hampshire, and died in the soldier's home at Bath, March 12, aged about 58 years. Mr. Bean worked in this village at blacksmithing about twenty-five years ago and removed from here to Jefferson county and later to Copenhagen, Lewis county, from which place he went to the soldier's home about a year ago. He leaves a wife and two daughters, Miss Jennie Bean and Mrs. H. J. Reese and one son, Wesley Bean, of Cleveland, Ohio. He enlisted in the 39th Wisconsin, Company G and served all through the Rebellion. He was a member of F. M. Leonard Post, G, A. R., Copenhagen, at the time of his death. His family came to this place and met the remains which were interred in the Pulaski cemetery, Saturday afternoon. Memorial service was conducted in J. B. Butler post rooms, by J. B. Butler W. R. C. and J. B. Butler Post, G. A. R. recited the burial service at the grave.
