      Chas. N. Durgee

      Charles N. Durgee, 81, of Orwell, died at the Webb nursing home in Orwell, Thursday evening at 9 p. m. He had been a patient there about 18 monthsFuneral services were held from the Weston & Woodard funeral home in Sandy Creek Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Wesley Baker, pastor of the Orwell Union church, officiating. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.

      Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Genevieve Miner of Orwell and Mrs. Esther Hager of Sandy Creek; a son, Marvin Durgee of Miafni, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Malcolm Beach of Lakeland, Fla.; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

      Mr. Durgee was born in Amboy Sept. 25, 1870, the son of George and Mary Jane Kinney Durgee. His early life was spent in Amboy. He married Miss Anna Stevens of Amboy in 1898, whose death occurred in 1914.

      He operated a farm in Ricard for many years before coming to Orwell. He was employed by the highway department of the Town of Orwell until ill health forced him to retire. He was a member of the Ricard Grange.
