    • Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, November 12, 1891 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Last Wednesday afternoon, a horrible tragedy occurred here, resulting in the instant death of Wilmot Joslyn and wife. The mail trains do not stop here, but fly past at full speed, and as the last mail came thundering through, it collided with the buggy containing the couple who were attempting to cross the track by the depot. The train was stopped, and a crowd soon collected, but nothing could be done. Strange to say the horse was not injured while the buggy was smashed to kindling. An inquest was held the next day, the verdict exonerating any one from blame. The funeral services were held at the church, Friday afternoon, Rev. Northrup preaching a most impressive sermon. Mr. and Mrs. Joslyn had been married about two weeks, and were on their way to N. Hungerford’s to see about renting their farm. Miss Effie Hungerford, who sat by the window looking out, was the only one who witnessed the accident. By Mr. Joslyn’s death, four children are left orphans, but they are all placed in pleasant homes where every kindness will be shown them.

      He was the son of Ira Joslyn, of South Redfield, NY. His first wife was named Mary, his second wife, killed in the train crash, was Josie Stowell.
