- Harris A. Kellogg, 89, Pulaski, died Tuesday, February 5, at St. Luke's Nursing Home, Oswego. He was born on February 1, 1924, in the town of Williamstown, to Ambrose and Marguerite Harris Kellogg. He attended Altmar Union School before enlisting in the US Army in February, 1943, and served in WWII, where he saw active service in the European Theatre.
After the war, he worked at Gaylord Brothers and at Griffiss Air Force Base, as well as several other jobs. Harris married Evelyn Wattenbe on June 23, 1948. In 1960, Harris and Evelyn purchased and ran the former Wheeler General Store in Ricard. He then became the postmaster for the Altmar Post Office. He served on the Williamstown Town Board, was a member of the American Legion and a 50 year member of the Ricard Grange.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, sons Lester (Pam) of South Carolina, Richard (Sheree) of Orwell, a daughter Karen (Stephen) of Lacona, a son-in-law, Richard Bryant of Amboy Center, a brother, Raymond (Virginia) of South Carolina, 18 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Shirley Kellogg Bryant, in 1984, a son, Thomas Kellogg in 2010, a daughter-in-law, Judy Sloper Kellogg in 2011, a great, great granddaughter, Hailey Kellogg, and two sisters, Edith Kellogg Black and Alice Kellogg King.
Services were held Saturday, February 9, at the United Wesleyan Church in Sandy Creek. Spring burial at Maple Hill Cemetery, Taberg. Funeral arrangements by Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek.
