Agnes M. King, 78, Potsdam, was pronounced dead Sunday morning in Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Mrs. King was a teacher at schools in Adams and was a business teacher at Potsdam Central School and with the St. Lawrence- Lewis Board of Cooperative Educational Services, Norwood, until her retirement in 1983.
Born Nov. 17, 1922, in Rome, daughter of Amos and Loretta Shanley Murtha, she was a graduate of Pulaski Academy and received a bachelor's degree from Nazareth College, Rochester. She married John G. King on Aug. 2, 1947, at St. John's Church, Pulaski, with the Rev. Edward P. Kenefic officiating.
Surviving besides her husband are a son, John G., Syracuse; five daughters, Mrs. George (Patricia) Reschetnikow, Clark Mills, Mrs. Donald (Susan) Saber, Potsdam, Mrs. Michael (Joan) Schroeder, Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Joseph (Theresa) Carrozzoni, Rome, and Mrs. Bruce (Janice) Zagorniak, Libertyville, Ill.; a brother, Francis Murtha, Katonah, 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Robert Murtha, and four sisters, Rosemary Donovan, Helen Fitzgibbons, Anne Switzer and Roberta Anderson, died before her.
A funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church with the Rev. John P. Kennehan officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Seymour Funeral Home.
