- Marjorie S. Cleveland, age 91, resident of Pulaski since 1947 passed away Thursday at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse. Marjorie was born May 13, 1919 in Binghamton, the daughter of Howard and Bessie Lamoureaux Shaw. She graduated from Binghamton Schools in 1937 and Syracuse University in 1941. Marjorie married James Cleveland on July 17, 1948, he died April 5, 1988. She was employed by Pulaski Central School as a Latin and English teacher for 18 years, retiring in 1974. She also taught in Wellsburg, NY for two years. Marjorie was a member of the Park United Methodist Church, Pulaski, Robert Edwards Post #358 American Legion Auxiliary, and the NYS Rural Letter Carrier Auxiliary.
Surviving: two sons David (Laurie) of Pulaski, and Douglas (Cathy) of Live Oak, FL, one granddaughter Alexa Cleveland of Brooklyn, and two grandsons, Aaron (Chelsea) Cleveland of Baldwinsville, and Adam Cleveland of Pulaski.
Funeral Services will be held 12 p.m. Saturday at the Park United Methodist Church, Pulaski with a burial Pulaski Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the church prior to the funeral. Donations may be made to the Park United Methodist Church, 2 Hubble Street, Pulaski, NY 13142. Arrangements by Foster-Hax Funeral Home 52 Park Street, Pulaski.

On Saturday, December 19, 2009, MARJORIE WILEY CLEVELAND of Montgomery Village, MD, Passed away after a long illness.
She is survived by her three children, Nancy, David, and Mark Cleveland, five grandchildren, Tristan, Alex, Katherine, Victoria and Emily Cleveland, brother William Wiley, M.D. and wife Suzanne of Carthage, NY and sister Mary Ellen Ormiston and husband James of Venice Center, NY. Marjorie's parents Harold and Bertha Wiley, and brother Harold predeceased her. Her husband of 50 years, Richard Spencer Cleveland, died in 2004.
Marjorie was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Houghton College, and had a career as a chemist, homemaker and as a restoration librarian for the Smithsonian Institution.
She and Richard were born and raised in northern New York State, she in Watertown and he in Potsdam, and retained strong family and emotional ties to the North Country. Marjorie loved her family, reading, crosswords, travel, church, holiday traditions, and her work at the Smithsonian, plus nature of all kinds but especially gardening, cats, bird watching, and walks with Richard. She was active in the Montgomery Village library board and in National Association of Retired Federal Employees. In her last years she could often be seen walking in the Montgomery Village neighborhood with her loving caregiver, Emma Fernandez.
Friends may call at Epworth United Methodist Church, 9008 Rosemont Drive, Gaithersburg, MD on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to The Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, FL #17, Chicago, IL 60601.
