      BERTRAND JAMES LAMBERT

      Bert Lambert died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Manorhouse at Irving Park.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.

      The son of William and Mary McGurl Lambert, he was born in Watertown, N.Y. on November 7, 1913. Educated in LaFargeville, N.Y., he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and served mainly in Northern California doing road building projects near the Feather River.

      Mr. Lambert was employed by Niagara Mohawk in Watertown, N.Y. In 1943, he became a farmer in Adams and later in Pulaski, N.Y., where he was well known for his modern farming methods and large acreage devoted to raising potatoes. Bert enjoyed his friends, fishing and hunting and was an avid reader. Following his retirement, he spent winters in Punta Gorda, Fla. and summers in Pulaski, N.Y. Mr. Lambert moved to Greensboro in May 2001.

      He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lantier Lambert, son, Joseph Michael Lambert, sisters, Dora and Patricia and brother, Frank.

      Mr. Lambert is survived by his sister, Emily L. Dupree of Watertown, N.Y.; his wife, Shirley Laveck Lambert of Punta Gorda, Fla. Mr. Lambert is also survived by his daughters, Judith (Mrs. H. Robert) Martineau of Greensboro and Paula (Mrs. Raymond)Naramore of Webster, N.Y. and sons, Francis Lambert of Upland, Calif. and Daniel Lambert of Santa Rosa, Calif. He leaves 16 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and was much adored by his 19 great-grandchildren.

      He was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Church, Greensboro and in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the St. Paul the Apostle Building Fund, Greensboro, N.C. or to a favorite charity.

      The family extends great thanks to the staff of Manorhouse at Irving Park, who have treated Bert with great care, respect, kindness and love.

      Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Forbis &Dick Guilford Chapel, with prayer service at 8:15 p.m.
