Charles G. Stowell, 81, of 6610 state Route 3,Mexico,died Thursday at home.
Born in Richland, he graduated from Pulaski Academy in 1936 and attended Cornell University. He owned a dairy farm and was a cattle dealer, and formerly worked at Sealright, Fulton. He was a member of Mexico Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, Pulaski Grange 730 and Crouse-Hinds Retirement Club and was a life member of U.S.S. Lake Champlain Association. He served in the Navy during World War II.
His first wife, the former Esther Jacobsen, died in 1989; a son, Duane, died in 1993.
Survivors: His wife, the former Jeannette Dean; three daughters, Joanne A. Moffett of Arlington, Va., and Judith A. Workman and Gayle R. Bickerstaff, both of Pulaski; three sons, Frederick C. of Pulaski, Terry A. of Mexico and Barry O. of Pascagoula, Miss.; two stepdaughters, Linda Compson of Fulton and Patricia Purtee of Englewood, Fla.; a stepson, David Kersey of Pennellville; 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home. Burial, Evergreen Cemetery, Orwell. Calling hours, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 52 Park St., Pulaski.
