Newspaper Obituary - Tuesday, July 1, 2003 Watertown Daily Times - Watertown, New York - Myrtle P. Viers, Teacher - Myrtle P. Viers, 86, Syracuse, formerly of Pulaski, died Monday at her home. Mrs. Viers taught at Onondaga Central School for 13 years, retiring in 1962. She also had taught in Camden, Oswego County Sanatorium, Richland, Fulton and East Syracuse. Born August 2, 1916, in Pulaski, daughter of Herbert N. and Mary B. Carl Sprague, she graduated from Pulaski Academy High School in 1935 and from Oswego Normal School in 1939. She married Gleason Viers on April 19, 1946. He died February 13, 1998. She was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association, a member of and a Sunday school teacher at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, a Cub Scouts den mother and a volunteer for Literacy Volunteers of the Greater Syracuse area. Surviving are a foster son, David Bennett, Syracuse; a sister, Margaret Peters, Pulaski, and a cousin. The funeral will at 10 a.m. Thursday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home with the Rev. Rev. IIarold W. Bruen officiating. Burial will be in South Richland Cemetery. Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to St. Paul's Church, Syracuse.

Myrtle P. Viers, 86 of 212 Crestview Drive, Syracuse died Monday at her home. Born on August 2, 1916 in Pulaski, she was the daughter of Herbert N. and Mary B. Carl Sprague. She graduated from Pulaski Academy High School in 1935 and Oswego Normal School in 1939. She resided in the Pulaski area and Fulton area moving to Syracuse in 1948. She married Gleason Viers on April 19, 1946, he died in 1998. She taught at Onondaga Central for 13 years retiring in 1962. She also taught in Camden, Oswego County Sanatorium, Richland, Fulton and East Syracuse. She was a member of the NYS Retired Teachers Association, a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and a Sunday School teacher, a Den mother of Cub Scouts, and a volunteer for Literacy Volunteers of Greater Syracuse area.
She is survived by her son, David Bennett, Syracuse, one sister, Margaret Peters, and one cousin, Bruce Carl, both of Pulaski.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, with Rev. Harold Bruen officiating. Burial will be in South Richland Cemetery. Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to St. Paul's Church.
