BURLINGTON FLATS -- Donald A. Seamans, 94, of Burlington Flats, formerly of the Oswego County community of Palaski, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011.
Donald was born April 9, 1917, in Altmar, Oswego County, son of Don C. and Leah Mattison Seamans.
On March 17, 1941, he married Fern A. Schouten of Pulaski.
Donald was a self-employed butcher and meat cutter in the Pulaski area for many years. He and his wife also owned and operated a hunting and fishing camp in Gowganda, Ontario, Canada, from 1963 to 1975, seasonally from May through September.
He is survived by his wife, Fern; a daughter, Faith (Mrs. Elwyn) Smith of Burlington Flats; and a son, Dennis Seamans of Floral City, Fla.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Donald was predeceased by his two brothers, Robert of Woodville and Guy of Copenhagen.
There will be a memorial service at the Edmeston United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10.
