Mary T. Brown, 93, formerly of Pulaski, died Tuesday at Southeastern Regional Medical Center, Lumberton, N.C.
Mrs. Brown was a correspondent for the Syracuse Herald-Journal and Oswego Palladium-Times. She was an English teacher for 21 years at Pulaski High School, retiring in 1970. She also was employed for 10 years in public relations for the Robeson County (N.C.) Public School System.
Born Oct. 8, 1914, in New York City, daughter of James C. and Mary Ann Carroll McShane, she graduated in 1933 from Pulaski Academy High School and in 1937 from the College of New Rochelle. She received her master's degree in education from Syracuse University.
She married William S. Brown on June 6, 1942. He died March 2, 2002. Mrs. Brown resided in Pulaski until 1970, then moved to Lumberton, spending summers at Eagle Crag Lake.
She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church, Lumberton, Delta Kappa Gamma, Mount Arab Preserve Association, Eagle Crag, Monday Historical Club and Monday Study Club. She was a former member of Christ Our Light parish.
Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Maureen and Craig Rinde, Clarksville, Tenn., two granddaughters and two great-granddaughters.
A sister, Sally Logan, and two brothers, Charles and James McShane, died before her.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Christ Our Light parish. Spring burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home.
