      Bertha M. Porter, 91, formerly of Sun City, Fla., and a former summer resident of Fishers Landing, died Monday at Janus Park, Liverpool, after a long illness.

      Mrs. Porter was school librarian at the Huntington School, part of the Northport school system, retiring in 1974 after 25 years of service. She had previously taught in Syracuse and East Islip schools and was also a home instructor for the handicapped.

      She lived on Long Island from 1934 until the late 1970s, when she moved to Florida and maintained a summer home at Fishers Landing.

      Born Dec. 8, 1905, in Dugway, daughter of Frank Albert and Jennie Mae Powers Gaylord, she graduated from Pulaski Academy in 1924 and was also a graduate of Oswego State Normal School.

      She married William N. Porter July 10, 1930, in Pulaski at the home of her parents with the Rev. J.S. Beebe officiating. Mr. Porter died Feb. 9, 1980.

      Surviving are two daughters, Jean Porter, Syracuse, and Eileen Burrack, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four granddaughters; four great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews.

      The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Fergerson Funeral Home, North Syracuse, with the Rev. Raymond H. Gausman of Liverpool First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be Saturday in Grove Cemetery, LaFargeville.

      Calling hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
