      Yates B. Mahaffy, 80, County Route 22, died Monday at Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown.

      Mr. Mahaffy was employed by Franklin Chevrolet, Olds and Buick, Pulaski, for 34 years, retiring in 1980. He also was involved in dairy farming with his father and his brother-in-law for 40 years until 1985.

      He was a member of Park United Methodist Church and Robert Edwards American Legion Post 358, both in Pulaski.

      Born Aug. 16, 1923, in Pulaski, son of Yates and Della Babcock Mahaffy, he graduated from Pulaski Academy and Central School in 1941 and served in the Army Air Forces from 1941 to 1945.

      In 1945, he moved from Pulaski to Orwell.

      He married Myrtle Pennock on Sept. 30, 1945, at Sandy Creek Methodist parsonage with the Rev. Herbert Harrison officiating. Mrs. Mahaffy died Dec. 19.

      Surviving are two brothers, Paul M. and Willard M., both of Pulaski; a sister, Barbara A. Wilder, California, and several nieces and nephews.

      A brother, William C., died May 5, 2003.

      The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

      Calling hours will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
