Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, March 21, 1894 Pulaski Democrat - Pulaski, New York - Mrs. Flora R. Burt Farmer departed this life on Thursday, March 15. Taken ill some eight weeks previous, she had been a great sufferer from the first, and the case was one that excited the profoundest sympathy throughout the entire community. Mrs. Fanner was born December 20, 1870, at Waverly, Van Buren county, Michigan. When quite young, her parents removed to Sandy Creek and subsequently to Pulaski, where they have since resided. The deceased graduated from the Sandy Creek high school, in June, 1890. In July, the same year, she entered the office of the Pulaski Democrat, where she remained until very shortly before her maniage with Mr. Lawrence J. Farmer, which occurred June 7th, 1893. In the spring of 1891 the deceased united with the Congregational church in this village. She was a liberal contributor to her church and its interests, a teacher in the Sunday school, where she did most efficient service, and had twice been chosen as president of the Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor. Without exaggeration hers was the loveliest Christian character we ever knew, peace-loving, self-sacrificing, modest, retiring, yet quietly zealous in every good work appointed to her; generous, thoroughly conscientious in every act of her life, thoughtful of others, perfectly unselfish, no one could know her without loving her. She died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Burt, having gone there at once upon being taken ill, where she had every care that loving hands could devise or suggest. The funeral was largely attended. It was held at the house where she died and was conducted by her pastor, Rev. A. S. Emmons. The singing was beautifully rendered by Miss Lizzie Fuller and Mrs. Jessie Green. Members of the class in which she graduated were present as follows: Mr. Deforest Hollis accompanied by his wife, Misses Lizzie Taylor, Anna Jones, Lou Wallace and Nora Sherman, all of Sandy Creek. They brought with them a beautiful floral pillow, with "90" in the center, the year of graduation. Among the other floral offerings were a star, the gift of the members of her Sunday school class and of her young lady friends, a floral anchor from the Sunday school, and a bouquet of ferns and roses from the Christian Endeavor Society. The pall bearers were Messrs. George Box, Will Dnunmond, W. G. Scott, R. E. Trumbull, F. G. Whitney and C. L. Finster. In addition to a fond husband, thus early bereft of a loving wife long before a year of wedded happiness had been passed, there are left a heart broken mother and father, a brother, Ward, and two sisters, Misses Lizzie and Jessie Burt, who will always tenderly cherish the memory of a true sister, not sainted in heaven.
