- Willie Marion Purvis Sr., 72, died Dec. 6, 2009, at his home. He was a lifetime resident of Vero Beach. He was the owner of Gus' Window and Door. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Shirley Purvis of Vero Beach; sons, Willie Purvis Jr. of Sebastian and Gus Moyer of Texas; daughters, Catherine Canavan and Tanya Burgess, both of Lake Wales, and Nancy Black of Raleigh, N.C.; brothers, Jack Purvis and Gene Purvis; sisters, Janet Bass, Shirley Keen and Alma Baker; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Polly Roberts. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association, Southeast Florida, 2701 N. Australian Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33407. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 11 at Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach. A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 12 at Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach. Burial will be in Winter Beach Cemetery.
