Newspaper Obituary - Wednesday, October 23, 1940 Sandy Creek News - Sandy Creek, New York - Death followed a dour day illness to Mrs. Jessie Tolley Riley, 59, wife of C. J. Riley, at the family home at Richland on the Ridge Road, Sunday afternoon October 20, 1940. Born in Bells Valley, Virginia, March 2, 1881, she was married June 1, 1898, and had been a resident of Richland for a number of years, where, while her health permitted, she had been active in the work of the Richland Methodist church and in community organizations. Survivors besides Mr. Riley are six daughters, Mrs. Rena Cobb, Mrs. Naomi DeShane, Mrs. Harold Wing, all of Richland, Mrs. Harold Pennock, Syracuse; a son, Elmer Riley, Newark; a sister, Miss Alice Tolley of Richland, and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2, Tuesday afternoon at the family home and burial was in the Richland cemetery.
