  • Notes 
    • A graduate of Henderson Central School Class of 1918, Melvin was employed in his youth by the town of Henderson (1914) and in 1917 worked on Association Island where he worked at building a golf coarse. From 1918-19 he was a member of the Army National Guard. He operated a gravel pit and General Store at Rural Hill from 1921until the 1930s.
      Melvin went to work as a bus driver for Belleville School in 1931, also serving as head custodian from 1937 until 1953. From 1953-57 he worked for Belleville Gas Co. From 1957-59 he served as head bookkeeper for C.J. Henry & son farm machinery. He was the town welfare officer for Ellisburg until 1966.
      A member of the United Methodist Church, Bovee also was active in the Rising Son Lodge 637, and served as a trustee for Belleville Academy.
