- Duane L. Farnum, 56, of 42 E. Greenwood St., Andover, died suddenly Wednesday (Dec. 26, 2001) after being taken to the emergency room at Corning Hospital. He was born Aug. 8, 1945 in Wellsville, son of C. Luther and Hazel Wickwire Farnum. On April 8, 1967 in Alfred Station, he married the former Joyce Austin, who survives him. He was a 1964 graduate of Angelica Central School, and had served with the U.S. Navy from 1966-1971 being stationed in Quantanomo, Cuba. A graduate of Alfred State College, Duane was an auto mechanic and a former auto parts manager with Advantage Auto in Hornell. A member of the Andover Fire Department, he was an avid race car fan, enjoying both local events and NASCAR. Surviving besides his wife is a son, Matthew Farnum of Wellsville; daughter, Doreen (Brian) Kerzner of Rhode Island; brothers, Donald Farnum of Cuba, David Farnum of Friendship and Gary Farnum of Bolivar; sister, Denise (Ronald) McKnight of Cleveland, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at the Mulholland-Swan Funeral Home, Inc. in Andover. A memorial funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Pastor Rick Kiddy of the United Church of Friendship officiating. Memorials may be made to the Andover Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad or to the American Heart Association.
