The funeral for Wilbur W. Yerdon, 88, Creekside Apartments, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Summerville Funeral Home with his grandson, the Rev. David Balcom, pastor of the Valley Baptist Church, Osceola, officiating. Spring burial will be in Greensboro Cemetery, Redfield.
Mr. Yerdon died Monday at the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Surviving are his wife, Helen; a daughter, Sharon Balcom, Redfield; two sons, Jamie, Mannsville, and Scott, Gouverneur; two sisters, Charlotte Mead, Boylston, and Nettie LaRue, Pulaski; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and several nieces nephews and cousins.
Two brothers, three sisters, and a grandson, Jamie "Kip" Yerdon, died previously.
He was born Jan 21, 1906, in Redfield, a son of Jess and Jennie Castor Yerdon. He attended rural schools.
He married Helen Kastler June 29, 1935, at Pulaski. He was a logger in Redfield and a braider for the Camden Wire Mill, retiring in 1968. Mr Yerdon lived most of his life in Redfield, moving to Sandy Creek in 1986.
He was a member of the Redfield Community Church.
