    • RUBY L. SWANSON - Friday - August 30, 1996

      Chelan - As a service to the Lake Chelan area, Precht Rose Chapel announces the death of Ruby L. Swanson, 75, a lifelong resident of Chelan. She died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 1996, at Lake Chelan Community Hospital following an extended illness.
      Services of commemoration will be Tuesday, Sept. 3, 1996, at 2 p.m. from Precht Rose Chapel with the Rev. Roberta Claire officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Fraternal Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, 1 to 8 p.m.
      She was born April 26, 1921, in the Boyd district, the daughter of Harley B. and Lelia (Province) Knowles. She attended school in the Boyd district and then she attended Chelan High School.
      On Feb. 26, 1939, she was married to Glen P. Swanson at Chelan. They lived for a short time on the Lepley orchard and then they moved into Chelan. Mrs. Swanson baked pies for the Apple Cup Cafe and baby-sat in her home. She then began to work in the kitchen at Lake Chelan Community Hospital. She then worked as an aide until she earned her RN. She continued to work at the hospital until her retirement.
      She was a loving wife and devoted mother.
      She is survived by two sons, Dennis of Wenatchee and Gary of Chelan; two daughters, Judy Swanson of Chelan and Gloria Swanson of Everett; one brother, Harlan Knowles of Onalaska; two sisters, Evelyn Darwood of Twisp and Vivian Carson of Wenatchee; four grandchildren, Eric Knapp of Chelan, and Monica Allen, Melissa Swanson and Janalee Swanson, all of Wenatchee; and one great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Collins of Wenatchee. She was preceded in death by her husband in August 1982 and by one sister and one brother.
      Services are under the direction of Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.
