      Newspaper Obituary — Monday, April 4, 1983 Pulaski Democrat — Pulaski, New York — Elizabeth Arnold Barton, 78 — Mrs. Elizabeth Arnold Barton, 78, of 310 SW 2nd Street, Boca Raton. Florida, died late Tuesday, 22 March 1983, in the Boca Raton Convalescent Center following a long illness. Born March 19, 1905, in Pine Plains, New York, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rudd. She was educated in Pine Plains schools and was a graduate of New Paltz Normal School. "Betty" was married to the late E. Ray Arnold, prominent Pulaski jeweler until his death in 1948. She attended the Park United Methodist Church. and was a Member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Order of the Eastern Star. In 1957, Betty moved to Newark, Ohio, where she taught 4th Grade at the Garfield Elementary School in the suburb of Heath until her retirement in 1975. During that time, she attended night classes at Ohio University in Zanesville and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education at age 65. In 1978, Betty married Mr. Cyril F. Barton, a longtime childhood friend, and moved to Boca Raton, where she resided until her death. Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Thomas R. Arnold of Elkhart, Indiana, and Lt. Col. Richard W. Arnold, stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Alabama; and four grandchildren, Jolie and Thomas II, of Elkhart and Richard, Jr. and Katherine of Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. Cremation took place at the Lakeside Chapel, Lake Worth. Florida, on March 25, 1983. Graveside services and burial in the Arnold family plot will take place later in the spring at the Pulaski Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, it was Betty's wish that donations be made in her name to the American Heart Association.
