    • Clarence E. Walkden
      Clarence E. Walkden, 83, of Spencer, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at Medina General Hospital.

      He was born March 12, 1923, in Olmsted Falls to Chauncey and Charlotte Maringer Walkden. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1941 and lived in Spencer most of his life, where he served on Spencer Village Council in the past. Mr. Walkden was a retired division manager for Sears at Midway Mall in Elyria and was named Sears Citizen of the Year in 1975 and 1976.

      His wife, Hazel, passed away two years ago on Feb. 7. She was born Sept. 13, 1925, in Spencer to Alva and Gertrude Lanfare Neidhardt. Hazel was a lifetime resident of Spencer, where she graduated from Spencer High School in 1943. She had been an administrative assistant at Oberlin College. They both were members of Spencer United Methodist Church, where Hazel was organist and pianist. Clarence was chairman of the administrative board for many other church committees.

      Surviving are their daughters, Cheryl of Spencer and Carol of Medina; son, Clarence A. (Teddi) of Medina; granddaughter, Andrea; Hazel's sisters, Helen (Avery) Sooy of Spencer and Carol (Thomas) Geracioti of Perrysburg; and Clarence's sisters, Eadred (Francis) Reisinger of Spencer, Ardith Coe of Wakeman and Audrey (Virgil) Frase of Litchfield Township.

      All services were private.

      Interments were at Spencer Cemetery.

      Parker & Son Funeral Home, Spencer, was in charge of arrangements.
