    • Newspaper Obituary - Saturday, January 21, 1922 - Judge Hubbs Father Dies, Aged 80 Years - Pulaski - Jan. 21 - Funeral services for George L. Hubbs, 80, who after a short illness, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Albert K. Box, with whom he has resided since the death of his wife in 1899, will be held there at 3 p.m. tomorrow, the Rev. William MacLeod, pastor of the Congregational church officiating, with burial in Pulaski. Surviving, in addition to Mrs. Box, is his son, Justice Irving G. Hubbs and a granddaughter, Miss Mattie C. Hubbs, daughter of the late Leslie J. Hubbs. The deceased was the last survivor of a large family of children. His elder brother, John Hubbs, died December 13th, 1921, at Lacona. George L. Hubbs was born April 18th, 1841 in the town of Sandy Creek. Since the age of 45 he lived in Pulaski. When a small boy he went to Wisconsin with his parents and during the Civil War enlisted in the Second Wisconsin Volunteers. He was discharged from the service owing to disability and returned to the old home town, where he erected the business block now occupied by the Lacona National Bank and in which he engaged in mercantile pursuing. Since the death of his wife 23 years ago he spent his summers at his Pine Grove Beach cottage and his winters with his daughter. He was one of the oldest Masons in this section of the state. He was in Sandy Creek Lodge F and A.M. and was among the guests of honor at a recent junction given by that lodge to its veteran members.
