Wayne Silver, 62, of North English, has been identified as the pilot who died Tuesday in a plane crash in northeast Keokuk County, the Sheriff's Office said. Keokuk Chief Deputy Jeff Shipley confirmed Silver's identity. He said an autopsy is scheduled in Des Moines, but did not know when it was expected to be completed. Keokuk County Medical Examiner James Conroy could not be reached for comment. Silver's one-seat home-built plane crashed Tuesday.
(Cedar Rapids - KCRG) -- A 63 year-old man is dead after his single engine ultralight plane crashed. It happened in Keokuk County around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon. The pilot was the only person on board the aircraft.
The pilot’s friend witnessed the crash from a distance. He tells TV9 he noticed the plane started sputtering. Not long after, the plane crashed into a corn field. Sheriff’s officials are investigating the crash. They are not releasing the victim’s name until all family is notified. --Copyright CRTV Company

Wayne Gary Silver, 62, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, in an ultralight plane crash close to White Pigeon Airport, southwest of North English. Celebration of Life memorial service: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Powell Funeral Home in North English, where friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to service time. Lynn Rumer will officiate.
