Lysle J. Ecker, 78, of Altmar died Monday at Crouse Hospital.
Born in Hannibal, he lived in Altmar since 1930 and graduated from Altmar High School. He was former mayor of Altmar. He retired in 1981 from Niagara Mohawk as a licensed land surveyor and held a civil engineering certificate. He was a past commander of Russell Tryon American Legion Post 1435, a former member of Defiance Fire Company, a 54-year member of Amboy Masonic Lodge 650 and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7289. He was an Army veteran of World War II and received the Bronze Star.
Survivors: His wife, the former Maralyn Johnson; four daughters, Judith Faulkner of Parish, Elaine Pretory of Edgewater, Fla., Linda Burkholder of Sacramento, Calif., and Jeanne Wall of Orwell; three sons, Lawrence of Pulaski, William of Jordan and Robert of Windsor, Calif.; a sister, Lucille Kern of Highland, Calif.; a brother, Elston of Adams; 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home. Burial, Riverside Cemetery, Altmar. Calling hours, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 52 Park St., Pulaski.
