- Newspaper Obituary - Thursday, January 30, 1958 Mexico Independent - Mexico, New York - Ray W. Geer, 74, died late Saturday at a local nursing home where he had been a patient about six weeks. He had been in ill health about three months. He was a native of Harrisville. Mr. Geer was employed by New York Central Railroad as a telegrapher and station master, retiring in 1948 after 50 years service. He had spent recent winters in Lakeland, Florida. His wife, Mrs. Ruth Patterson Geer, died in 1941. He attended the Baptist Church and was a 32d degree Mason. Mr. Geer was a 50-year member of Central Square Lodge 622, F & A.M.; and a member of Pulaski chapter 279, RAM; Central City Consistory, Syracuse; the Council of Royal and Select Masters of Fulton; Elizabeth Caldwell Chapter, OES, Central Square. He was assistant grand lecturer of the Oswego District, Order of Railroad Telegraphers. Surviving are two sons, L. Ray Geer of Lowville; Francis B. Geer of Pulaski; a sister, Mrs. C. Fred Goodsell of Fernwood; three grandchildren, Bruce R., James F. and Ruth Geer. Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Taylor Funeral Home, Pulaski, with the Rev. Edward Vanderhey of Pulaski Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in Willis Cemetery, Fernwood. Masonic services were at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
