Carroll Brownell McElver August 6, 2016 Carroll Brownell McElver, 83, of Parish, NY, passed away August 6, 2016 at the home of her daughter after a long illness. She was born June 28, 1933 in Rochester, NY a daughter of Frank & Ruby Jincks Brownell. Carroll attended and graduated from Fulton High School and Syracuse School of Business. On August 27, 1961 she married Robert R. McElver in Syracuse, NY. Mr. McElver passed away May 20, 1997. For 36 years Carroll worked as a Heavy Military Secretary with General Electric Company retiring from Lockheed Martin in November 1996. She previously attended Richland Church of Christ where she served as organist, choir director and secretary. Later, she attended Parish Christian Church where she served as organist and secretary. She loved making ceramics, sewing, knitting and crocheting. Above all else family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her daughter Cathy & David Barry; two grandsons, Kevin Robert Barry, Kyle Joseph Barry and fiance' Taylor Marie Gristwood and her canine companion, Tootsie, all of Parish, NY and several nieces & nephews. Carroll was predeceased by two brothers, Glenn and Gerald Brownell. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday from the North Syracuse Christian Church, 911 Church St., North Syracuse, NY with a calling hour from 12:30 p.m. until services. Graveside services will be held at Pleasant Lawn Cemetery at 5 p.m. Wednesday following services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY.
