Myrtle B. Gillespie, 94, of Lake Placid and formerly of Masonic Ave., passed away April 6, 2010 at the Adirondack Medical Center, Saranac Lake, NY.
She was born November 15, 1915, a daughter of Wilbur and Effie Kinney Balcom. On May 22, 1936, she was married to James A. Gillespie in Little Falls, NY. He passed away April 29, 1991. Myrtle was a member of the Williamstown Union Church, she was a charter member of the Williamstown Senior Citizens and officer for 17 years, she was also a member of the Camden Villagers and Camden Senior Citizens. Myrtle lived in Williamstown for 60 years before moving to Camden in 1996.
Surviving are a son, Theodore Gillespie, Lake Placid, NY; a daughter, Barbara and John Gorman, West Monroe, NY; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Millicent Houke, Vernon Center; two brothers, Lloyd Balcom, Camden and Wilbur Balcom, Pennellville, NY. She was predeceased by three brothers, Alfred, Elias and Earl Balcom and two sisters, Marie Loomis and Mildred Pappa.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. from LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY. Interment: Fairview Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m., at the funeral home, 109 Main St.
