- ELIAS H. RICKARD
Elias H. Rickard, eldest son of Archibold and Sophia Rickard, was born at Mexico, July 7, 1843. On Dec. 9, 1874, he married Clarissa Patterson, who died twelve years ago.
Three children were born to them, one dying in infancy; two still surviving, William A. and Lois E., now Mrs. Charles Chapman.
At an early age, Mr. Rickard moved with his parents from Mexico to the vicinity of the farm where he had lived for many years. In 1912 he united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Dugway and was a faithful member of the same to his death, which occurred June 11, 1924.
The funeral was held at the home, June 13, at 2 o'clock, his pastor, Rev. Starks Beebe officiating. Burial was in Dugway cemetery.
In spite of age and physcial infirmity, Mr. Rickard retained a clear mind and a good memory. During his declining years and his recent fatal illness, he has exhibited a kindness and patience befitting his Christian character. Of late years, his home has been with the son and daughter-in-law, who have bestowed upon him a filial love and thoughtful care, noted by men and women blessed of God.
