    • William E. Sweet December 27, 2011 William E. Sweet, 68, of Constantia, NY, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Syracuse, NY, on January 5, 1925, a son of G. Edward and Marie Hotchkiss Sweet. Mr. Sweet served with the U.S. Army 36th division during WWII and received the Purple Heart award. He was a charter member of V.F.W. Post #7325, a member of Cleveland American Legion Post #858, the D.A.V. and was a lifetime member of the 36th Division Association. Bill retired from Carrier Corporation in 1984 after 35 years of service. He was also an avid hunter. Surviving are his wife of 34 years, the former Patricia Weaver; two daughters, Mary Ann and Gordon Moses of Phoenix, AZ, and Mary Lou and Donald Snyder of Myrtle Beach, SC; two sons, David Sweet of Henderson, NV, and Chris Sweet of Boylston, NY; three stepchildren, Sandra and Lester Schadd Jr. of Constantia, Stephen Wicks of Raleigh, NC, and Daryl and Tisha Winks of Central Square; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Audrey and Donald Romano of Florida; a sister-in-law, Lila Sweet of Constantia; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a stepson, David Winks, and a brother, John "Jack" Sweet. A memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012, from St. Bernadette's Church, Constantia, NY, under the direction of Watson Funeral Home, Central Square, NY. Spring interment will be in Constantia Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 631 S. Main Street.
