- DUGWAY - Romain Sanford Adams, 85, retired farmer and, native of Sandy Creek, died yesterday at the home of his son, Ellis Adams in Black River where he had lived the last year. He had been in failing health. There will be a prayer service. The body will then be brought to the church at Dugway until the funeral. Burial will be in Dugway cemetery. The survivors include a son, Ellis; a sister, Mrs. Rose Havens, Oriskany Falls. Mr. Adams was born Jan. 15, 1872, at Sandy Creek, son of Orlando and Lucy Sperling Adams. When two years old, he came with his family to the town of Albion where he was educated and spent most of his life. He married Miss Almeda Ellis on Oct. 20, 1895, at Dugway. Mr. The couple owned and operated a farm at Howardsville 49 years until their retirement. They moved to a home on the Black River road in 1950 where they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with an open house in 1955. Mrs. Adams died March 14, 1956.
