- Louis Lichtenstein Jr., aged 91, resident of Pulaski since 1953, passed away Thursday at his family’s home. Louis was born September 3, 1923 in New York City, the son of Louis and Rose Mayer Lichtenstein. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 1942, and from SUNY Oswego in 1950. He received his Master’s Degree from Syracuse University in 1951. Louis served in the United States Army Air Corp from 1942 until 1946. He was a long-time teacher at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown (APW) Central Schools, serving from 1951 until 1980. He led a life of service, working for Farnham Crisis Center in Oswego, as well as Cornell Cooperative Extension. He also volunteered extensively for organizations like the American Red Cross, including at Ground Zero after 9/11. He was the recipient of the Red Cross’s Clara Barton Award. Louis was also a member of the Albany American Legion Post 1.
Surviving are one daughter, Kristine (John) Sperati of Pulaski, three sons, Louis (Nancy) Lichtenstein III of Pulaski, Mark (Mary) Lichtenstein of Mexico, and Eric Lichtenstein of Middletown, NJ, and one brother, Robert Lichtenstein of Allendale, NJ, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
