      Warren G. McConnell, 78, of 22 Wright Drive, died Tuesday in Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.
      Mr. McConnell retired in 1985 after 30 years as a welder for Carrier Corp., Syracuse.

      Born April 13, 1923, in Three Mile Bay, son of Frederick and Edith Calhoun McConnell, he attended Three Mile Bay schools and served in the Navy during World War II, from 1944 to 1946.

      He married Arlene Vogt on March 22, 1947, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Watertown, with the bride's cousin, the Rev. Frederick K. Vogt, officiating. The couple lived in Fernwood for 27 years before moving to Richland.

      Mr. McConnell was an avid golfer and softball player, continuing to play softball until three years ago.
      Surviving besides his wife are five daughters, Charlene Marsden, Mexico, Brenda Moot, Hannibal, Marilyn Briggs and Sharon Isham, both of Richland, and Laurie Miller, Sandy Creek; five sons, Mickey, St. Petersburg, Fla., Mark, Richland, Perry and Melzer, both of Pulaski, and Kenneth, Central Square; two sisters, Wealtha Prior, Watertown, and Aletha Stewart, Marathon; three brothers, Leland, Alameda, Calif., Calvin, Rodman, and Melzer, Mexico, 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

      The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski. Burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery.
      Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
