- Newspaper Obituary - March 12, 1996 Post Standard - Syracuse, New York - Floyd J. Gayne, 89, of Deerfield Apartments died Monday at Pontiac Nursing Home, Oswego, after a long illness. A native of Watertown, Mr. Gayne lived in Pulaski since 1932. He retired in 1986 after 15 years as a self-employed carpenter and electrician. He was previously employed 10 years with Nolan's Machine Shop and 13 years with Plant's Electrical Shop. Mr. Gayne was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy Coon; three sons, William F. and Arthur F., both of Pulaski, and F. James of Altmar; three daughters, Beverly Gayne, Norma M. Gregory and Mary L. Gayne, all of Pulaski; two brothers, Arthur of Watertown and Vernon of Florida; a sister, Margaret Van Alystyne of Watertown; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. John the Evangelist Church, the Rev. John Hogan officiating. Spring burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery. Calling hours will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park St.

Floyd J. Gayne, 89, formerly of Deerfield Apartments, died Monday at Pontiac Nursing Home, Oswego, after a long illness.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Church with the Rev. John Hogan officiating. Spring burial will be in Pulaski Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; three sons, William F. and Arthur F., both of Pulaski, and F. James, Altmar; three daughters, Beverly Gayne, Norma M. Gregory and Mary L. Gayne, all of Pulaski; two brothers, Arthur, Watertown, and Vernon, Florida; a sister, Margaret Van Alstyne, Watertown; 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Born Feb. 1, 1907, in Watertown, son of Floyd and Louise Staie Gayne, he had lived in Pulaski since 1932. He retired in 1986 after 15 years as a self-employed carpenter and electrician.
He was previously employed by Nolan's Machine Shop for 10 years and by Plant's Electrical Shop for 13 years.
He married Dorothy Coon on Jan. 5, 1929.
Mr. Gayne was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.
