      Edward Anthony McLaughlin, 69, of Oswego RD 1, died Wednesday at Veterans Adminstration Medical Center, Syracuse, after a long illness.

      Mr. McLaughlin, who was born in Oswego, was a 20-year employee of the New York State Highway Department.

      He was a communicant of St. Mary Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Mexico.

      He was an Army veteran of World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Hamlin-Weldon Post 975, American Legion, in New Haven.

      Surviving are his wife, the former Marjorie Tucker; three daughters, Peggy Battles, of Central Square, Pamela Ellis, of Granby, and Marion Duell, of East Lebanon, Maine; three sons, Edward B., of Central Square, Dennis, of Liverpool, and Charles, of Pulaski; five sisters, Mary Rita Haley, Shirley Machalski, Genevieve Cummings, Maureen Gill and Rose McLaughlin, all of Oswego; three brothers, Frank, James and Patrick, all of Oswego; and 16 grandchildren.

      Services are 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Harter-Olmstead Funeral Home, Mexico, and 10 a.m. at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.

      Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 5305 Washington Ave.
